2. Dave Winfield – University of Minnesota
Dave Winfield finished his MLB career with seven Golden Glove awards, six Silver Slugger awards, and 3,110 hits. Almost everyone knows about the athletic prowess that Dave Winfield possessed. Winfield is thought to be one of the greatest multi-sport athletes there ever was, and showed that prowess during his days at the University of Minnesota. Along with being a dominant pitcher with the Golden Gophers baseball team, he also played with on the basketball team. Winfield averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game during his time with the team, which was 40 games. Minnesota coach Bill Musselman was once quoted as saying “He [Winfield] was the best rebounder I ever saw.” Winfield was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the 79th pick of the 1973 NBA draft, and the Utah Stars of the ABA also drafted him.
