According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the New York Mets have acquired LHP Alex Torres from the San Diego Padres for Cory Mazzoni and a player to be named later. The Mets were having a competition for the lefty bullpen role, but now they will probably have two: Torres and Josh Edgin.

Torres, 27, posted a 3.33 ERA, 3.72 FIP, 0 fWAR in 54 innings with San Diego in 2014 after posting a 1.71 ERA, 2.32 FIP, 1.4 fWAR in 58 innings with Tampa Bay the year before. He has a career 2.55 ERA in 120 innings pitched. Mazzoni, 25, has a 4.11 ERA in 300 1/3 minor league innings pitched. In 2014 he pitched in rookie league, High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A posting a 4.67 ERA with 75 strikeouts and 20 walks.
Really good move by the Mets. Very underrated pitcher. If the Mets are having some lefty bullpen issues, they’re solved.
