New York Yankees‘ manager Joe Girardi announced Wednesday that righty Adam Warren will join the Bombers’ rotation as the fifth starter, beating out Esmil Rogers, Chase Whitley, Bryan Mitchell and Scott Baker for the last spot.
Warren, 27, earned the spot after posting a 2.70 ERA in 16.2 IP in five games, all as a starter. Last year he spent the entire campaign coming out of the bullpen and did a stellar job in 78.2 IP, with a 1.106 WHIP, 2.97 ERA, 2.7 BB/9, while saving three games in the process.
Warren will join aces Masahiro Tanaka, C.C. Sabathia, and second-tier starters Nathan Eovaldi and Michael Pineda in the Yankees’ rotation.
