1. The Cubs must strike early and prevent Adam Wainwright from settling into a rhythm.
Of course, this is easier said than done, but if the Cubs are going to score, they’ll likely have to do it in the first three innings of the game. Adam Wainwright isn’t one the best pitchers in the National League for nothing. Once Wainwright settles into a rhythm, the Cubs will find it very difficult to score, and it doesn’t get much easier in the Cardinals ‘pen. However, with high OBP guys, such as Dexter Fowler at the top of the lineup, the Cubs could jump out to an early lead that Jon Lester can work with.
If the Cubs keep Wainwright off-balance, the Cubs stand a very good chance at taking an early season game from their archrivals.
