2. Dallas Keuchel finishes in the top 5 of Cy Young voting.
Every year there seems to be one pitcher that suddenly springs onto the scene and garners serious Cy Young consideration. In 2013, it was 3rd place finisher, Hisashi Iwakuma, and in 2014 it was winner, Corey Kluber. In 2015, it will be Dallas Keuchel. After a fine 2014 campaign, Keuchel seems poised to build on that success as he takes over the ace role full time.
If the Astros continue to improve in 2015, it will be because of Dallas Keuchel. At 27, Keuchel is entering his peak, and if he continues his strategy by pounding the bottom of the zone, Keuchel could very well be this year’s Corey Kluber, a lightly regarded pitcher who shocks nearly everyone, on the way to All-Star nods and Cy Young consideration. Now, I’m not saying Keuchel will win Cy Young, but he’ll be in the conversation.
