3. The Astros will be interesting in August.
Since 2008, the Astros have had as many winning seasons as the Montreal Expos. That’s right, the Astros have not yet won more than 81 games this decade, and it’s not like they’ve been hovering around .500 either. To put it mildly, the Astros have been bad. From 2011-2013, the Astros did not win more than 56 games, the highpoint coming in 2011. In 2013, the Astros hit a low point, losing 111 games, the most since the 2004 Arizona Diamondbacks.
However, 2014 was a relatively brighter season, losing only 90 games. Another year of experience for players such as Springer, Keuchel, McHugh, and Carter can’t hurt, and another year of Jose Altuve should help make the Astros a team to watch in August. With new manager, AJ Hinch, these aren’t the same Astros of the past several years. Not saying the Astros will be competing, but they’ll certainly be fun to watch.
