Five Bold Predictions for the 2015 Miami Marlins

2. Giancarlo Stanton hits 45 home runs, wins MVP.

After landing the richest and longest contract in the history of North American sports, Stanton must now face unenviable task of proving why he deserves it. Finally with the lineup protection he deserves, Stanton should feast on pitchers this year, assuming he stays healthy. Stanton has played at least 150 games just once, in 2011, when he played exactly 150 games. Coming off a facial injury suffered last year against Milwaukee, Stanton looks as good as ever.

Despite missing the second half of September with the aforementioned injury, Stanton still finished second to Clayton Kershaw in MVP voting. Assuming he stays healthy, Stanton should stand to gain from playing on a much better Marlins team that should at least challenge for a Wild Card spot. Stanton’s career high for home runs is 37, which he met twice in 2012 and in 2014. I expect Stanton to only get better in 2015, winning MVP.
