With Opening Day upon us for the 2015 MLB season, the Baseball Essential staff has formed their predictions for the top year end awards as well as playoff prognosticating for the World Series.
American League MVP
Receiving 57% of votes, the consensus pick was reigning MVP Mike Trout.
Jose Abreu received 24%.
Dustin Pedroia, Robinson Cano, Jose Bautista, and Miguel Cabrera each received 5% of votes.
American League Cy Young
Receiving 52% of votes, the slight edge was given to Felix Hernandez.
Chris Sale received 33%.
David Price received 10%, and reigning winner Corey Kluber 5%.
American League Manager
Several managers received consideration, and the leading vote getter was Lloyd McClendon with 29%.
Robin Ventura and John Farrell both received 19%.
Mike Scioscia 14%, Buck Showalter 5%, and Terry Francona 5%.
American League Rookie of the Year
Aaron Sanchez received 29% of the votes.
Carlos Rodon received 19%, with Francisco Lindor getting 10%.
Daniel Norris, Rusney Castillo, Brandon Finnegan, Brandon Finnegan, Steven Souza, and Taijuan Walker also received consideration.
