3. Get to Archer early.
Chris Archer is a very good young pitcher, although an obvious downgrade from David Price who will start Opening Day for the Tigers this season. Archer is also a combustible fellow capable of losing his composure very quickly. He started two games against the Orioles last season and went 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA while allowing 19 hits in only ten innings.
That was by far his worst performance against any of the teams he faced. If the Orioles can stick a few early runs to Archer, he may cave and allow the game to get out of hand quickly. Scoring early and often would also force Tampa Bay’s offense to play from behind against one of the best bullpens in the league.
