Five Bold Predictions for the 2015 Detroit Tigers

1) Shane Greene, Anthony Gose, and Nick Castellanos will all improve.

Greene was not a top prospect and didn’t even wow in the minors. He doesn’t have many projection systems favoring a repeat performance though. Greene figures to be a solid four starter for the Tigers nonetheless.  Brandon McCarthy said that Greene had some of the top stuff in the league and Greene has components of being a good pitcher. Dave Dombrowski is good at finding undervalued pitchers. Anibal Sanchez and Doug Fister are two great examples of that, and Greene may just be DD’s next big find.

Gose can replace Austin Jackson defensively and he has speed. He just needs the bat to come around. It might not all happen at once, but Gose has a decent hit tool and as he starts to see Major League pitching he should be able to improve and help the Tigers at the top of the order.

Castellanos is the stud, and he can mash the ball. I think he’s going to make a big leap forward as far as average this year and should start to hit for more extra base power too. His defense probably won’t be as bad either, especially with Jose Iglesias to his left. Keep in mind that he’s just 23 too.

I hope you just saw Simon pitch tonight! I think he will make it as a starter! 8 innings – 2 hits – no walks – shutout!
