Hoping to assist players of Daily Fantasy leagues, I look at DraftKings and Fanduel and try to evaluate some guys other than the typical big names who could have good games and could help make you so money.
Michael Wacha vs Cincinnati (FD: 8,300 DK: 7,900)
Cincinnati’s offense has been pretty good in 2015 thus far but they have fallen victim to a large number of strikeouts thus far. Wacha should have ample opportunity to limit the Reds’ offense while racking up the strikeouts.
Jarred Cosart vs Tampa Bay (FD: 7,300 DK: 6,300)
Tampa Bay’s offense broke out on Friday night, scoring nine runs to match what they had scored on the season going into the contest. Cosart won’t rack up the strikeouts but he should not allow a lot of runs and could post solid numbers for a relatively cheap price.
Mark Canha vs Mariners (FD: 2,700 DK: 3,100)
Canha has had a great start to his season for the Athletics and with a left-hander starting should find himself at 1b for the Athletics today. Although he hits near the bottom of the order, he should get RBI opportunities and could leave the yard against Happ.
David Freese vs Royals (FD: 2,900 DK: 3,600)
Freese has gotten off to a hot start and hits in the middle of the lineup. Against Jeremy Guthrie, the guys at the top of the order should be on base multiple times, providing Freese with a few RBI opportunities.
Anthony Gose vs Indians (FD: 3,100 DK: 2,900)
Gose has been hitting leadoff for a potent Detriot Tigers’ offense and has been paying off for owners who have taken a chance on him. He has multiple hits in every game he has played thus far. He faces a tough test in Corey Kluber but at his cheap asking price could prove to be a good investment.
Athletics Righties vs J.A. Happ
Happ is starting for the Mariners today against Oakland and he has been a below average pitcher the past few seasons. He has had an ERA over four for four straight seasons. He has also fallen victim to the long ball, allowing more than one HR/9 in three of the past four seasons. Fire up Athletics offensive players like Ben Zobrist and Marcus Semien up the middle and cheap guys like the aforementioned Mark Canha.
White Sox vs Mike Pelfrey
The White Sox face the Twins and Pelfrey, who is only starting because Ervin Santana got suspended at the start of the season. Pelfrey has been pretty bad in his career and this could be the game the White Sox offense finally breaks out. Guys like Avisail Garcia and Adam Eaton could be good plays and Tyler Flowers could be a good catching option. Jose Abreu costs a bit but this matchup could make him worth the price tag.
