After sitting out four games due to a strained groin Giants’ Brandon Belt is back in the lineup today against the Padres. He was available to pinch hit last night, but didn’t get the chance.

Belt, 26, turned quickly to chase a foul ball in Arizona and felt something in his groin. He immediately let up and waved over for the trainers. He is coming off an injured plagued season (broken wrist, concussion) playing only 61 games slashing .243/.306/.449 with 12 home runs. He did show up in the postseason and slashed .295/.397/.361 with a homer and 124 wRC+.
Casey McGehee left Saturday night’s game against San Diego in the first inning after tweaking his right knee coming out of the batter’s box. Today, he said it was only a bone bruise and was quite relieved, according to Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area. He will miss a couple days allowing Matt Duffy to get some reps at third base.
McGehee just has a bone bruise. Said all things considered, it’s best news he could have been given. — Alex Pavlovic (@AlexPavlovic) April 12, 2015
McGehee, 32, was acquired from the Marlins this past offseason after slashing .287/.355/.357 with 4 home runs, 102 wRC+, and 1.4 fWAR. He has 5 hits this season in 22 plate appearances.
Andrew Susac, catcher, was hit by a foul tip in the hand last night in Sacramento for the Triple-A River Cats. The x-rays came back negative according to Hank Schulman of San Francisco Chronicle. Susac played a big part in the Giants World Series run last year, but was sent to Sacramento to get consistent at-bats.
X rays on Susac negative, per Sacto game notes. Should be back within days. #sfgiants
