According to Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area, the Giants have placed RHP Jake Peavy on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained back muscle. Andrew Susac has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento giving San Francisco three active catchers.

No word on whether Ryan Vogelsong would take his place in the rotation with Matt Cain due off the DL in the next couple days, but would likely need rehab starts. And there’s also Yusmeiro Petit, who has shown the ability to go multiple innings.
Peavy, 33, signed a two-year deal worth $24 million in the offseason after posting a 2.17 ERA with them in 78 2/3 innings. San Francisco acquired Peavy from Boston at the trade deadline in 2014 and was a big part during their playoff, World Series run.
Susac was called up last year after Hector Sanchez went down and posted an impressive 128 wRC+ in 95 plate appearances. He slashed .273/.326/.466 with a 0.9 fWAR. The 25-year old catcher started the year in Triple-A Sacramento to get consistent at-bats, but Bochy decided he wants more options off the bench.
