Minnesota Twins News and Notes: Week of April 19th

Here is a recap of the last week for the Minnesota Twins

The Twins placed Brian Duensing on the 15-day disabled list with an intercostal strain. Duensing was one of the few left handed arms the Twins had on the major league roster, and was replaced by left handed pitcher Caleb Thielbar, who was called up from AAA Rochester. In the last two years, Thielbar is 5-4 with a 2.59 ERA with the Twins.

The Twins had a small three game winning streak this week, stringing together two wins over Kansas City, and one walk off win over Cleveland. The streak puts the Twins only half a game back of third place, which is held by a tie between Cleveland and Chicago.

After today’s game against Cleveland, the Twins hit the road, as they go to Kansas City for three games, followed by a trip out west to Seattle to face the Mariners.

Monday was the home opener for the Twins, which was spoiled by a 12-3 loss to Kansas City. They picked up their first win at Target Field on Wednesday, with a 3-1 victory.
