Daily Fantasy Advice: April 29

With today being getaway day for many teams the games are spread throughout the day. The earliest game begins at 12:35 EST with the final games of the day beginning at 10:10 EST. As of the writing of this article it does not appear that weather will be a factor in any games and there should be no other reasons for games to get cancelled. With that said lets dive right in to the players I like.

Shane Greene vs Twins (FD: 8,300 DK: 6,400)

People were running out of adjectives to describe Greene’s early season performance so it was a good thing that he had a horrific start in his last appearance. However, even with his terrible outing his ERA still sits at a pretty 3.00. Today he faces the Twins who have a pretty terrible offense and looks to get back on track to his early season success. He is a little bit pricey for my liking but the matchup is very good and it is well worth the cost.

Danny Salazar vs Royals (FD: 7,700)

Salazar has been lights out to begin his 2014 campaign and while he gets a tough task with an underrated Royals’ lineup I think he is still a solid option. His pure stuff was never a question as many in the baseball community thought he was poised for a breakout. He has been doing a much better job controlling his stuff and it has translated to more strikeouts. Salazar has been hurt by the long ball thus far and that is not a strength of this Royal’s team so I think he can put up zeroes in this one.

Also Consider: Dallas Keuchel, Alex Wood, Jesse Hahn

Logan Morrison vs Rangers (FD: 2,200 DK: 3,800)

Morrison has been pretty terrible thus far in 2015 with a AVG below .200. This had lead to his extremely low price for today. Wandy Rodriguez is starting for the Rangers and Morrison mashed left-handers in 2014 to the tune of a wRC+ of 145 across 95 plate appearances. If you want to save money to spend at another position play Morrison at first.

Chris Young vs Rays (FD: 2,700 DK: 3,600)

Young is starting in left for the Yankees today and finds himself hitting second in the order. He is also facing a left-hander in Drew Smyly and he has had moderate success against lefties in his career with a wRC+ of 120. Cheap hitter near the top of a hot lineup with a platoon advantage is always a good option.

Jimmy Paredes vs White Sox (FD: 3,300 DK: 4,000)

It took a little bit longer than it maybe should have but Paredes’ price finally broke 3,000 on FanDuel. The switch hitter has been playing extremely well as of late and is a second baseman on FanDuel. As a hitter on fire who is batting second in the order today and is eligible for a position where offense is not a premium Paredes is a good option for today.

Jayson Werth vs Braves (FD: 3,200 DK: 4,000)

Werth absolutely destroyed lefties in 2014 to the tune of a wRC+ of 164. Today he faces a pretty good left-hander in Alex Wood but Wood is not as dominant as some of the other lefties in the MLB. Werth should hit around the middle of the order and for this reason and his success against lefties I will be firing him up in my lineups.

Also Consider: Zack Cozart, Chris Owings, Curtis Granderson

Dodgers vs Giants

The Giants are starting Ryan Vogelsong who is a very average MLB pitcher. The Dodgers have seen Vogelsong a number of times as the play in the same division. I expect the Dodgers to tee off the right-hander and would target guys like Howie Kendrick, Joc Pederson, and even Andre Ethier. If Alex Guerrero finds himself in the starting lineup play him as I like his chances of hitting a homer.

Diamondbacks vs Rockies

Jordan Lyles is starting for the Rockies and while he has had a good start to the season he owns a career ERA of 4.99. The Diamondbacks have an underrated offense and have a number of guys who I like for today. Obviously if you can afford him Paul Goldschmidt is a solid play but look at cheaper guys like Chris Owings, A.J. Pollack, Mark Trumbo, and whichever of Ender Inciarte or David Peralta starts.
