The Texas Rangers, who are in need of pitching, have called up right-handed pitcher Spencer Patton from Triple-A Round Rock, per league source. He will join the team for their game tonight in Houston against the Astros.
Patton, 27, has had a great start to the 2015 season in Triple-A, putting up a 0.96 ERA and 8/2 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 9.1 innings pitched.
It’s unclear if Patton will be available to pitch tonight since he pitched last night. Patton throws a fastball that usually hits 92-93 mph and he is able to get it up to around 96 mph. He also throws a curveball, change-up, and slider.
In five seasons in the minor-leagues, Patton has gone 13-14 with a 3.59 ERA and 342/91 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
