Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg left Tuesday’s game against the Miami Marlins with an apparent injury to his pitching shoulder.
He was visited on the mound by his catcher, Wilson Ramos, and teammates early in the outing and later by Nationals’ skipper Matt Williams and trainer Lee Kuntz and though he stayed in after that visit, he left the game after having pitched just three innings.
Strasburg grimaced on a pitch to Ozuna in the first inning then again to Dee Gordon in the 2nd. Wasn’t comfortable at all.

Strasburg compared it to driving a car fast over speed bumps — tough, but doable. Said felt it going away to righties and in to lefties.

Thought he could pitch through it, but opted for caution. Started altering mechanics to compensate, and did not want to risk further injury.

Strasburg threw 64 pitches and allowed two runs on four hits with two strikeouts before leaving the game. Sammy Solis took over for Strasburg in the top of the fourth.
