The Class A Advanced Carolina Mudcats were traveling from Salem, Virginia, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, overnight, when their charter bus suddenly flipped over on to its side in North Carolina. The crash occurred around 3:30 am, while most of the players and staff were asleep. According to WECT News, a total of 33 members of the team and staff were on board at the time of the crash.
Eight were injured, including seven players and one trainer. All were sent to a local hospital, and since have been released with non-life-threatening injuries
Greg Young, who is the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Mudcats, put this on Twitter after the accident:

Thank you everyone for your concern. I can’t speak for everyone involved, but I think we are all doing well. As well as can be expected.

Around 11 am, Young also followed with an additional tweet stating the team was all “back together” and they were back on the road to Myrtle Beach:
Just want to get this out before my battery dies again. The team is all back together now and headed to Myrtle Beach as planned.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation at this time. Tonight’s game against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans has been cancelled, and no make-up date has been announced yet by the Carolina League.
