MLB Power Rankings: June 8th

Happy Monday, sports fans! This sure has been an interesting week in the world of sports. The Stanley Cup and the NBA Finals are each tied at 1-1 through two games in each series. The Chicago Blackhawks look to add their names into the hall of greats for the third time in five years, and the Lighting will attempt to win their 2nd Cup in franchise history. But, when the ice melts and the hardwood is put back on the court, we get to watch the Cav’s and the Warriors square off. Personally, this was the finals match-up I was looking forward to since October.

Anyway, BASEBALL! The draft is coming up, but instead of looking at the future let us focus on the now, and who represents now better than anyone else? The New York Yankees have jumped up and down on my power rankings more than any other team. Yes, I may have been too quick on the draw with dropping them, but how could I not! I don’t know if I can believe that the New York Yankees are a playoff team this year, until they make it to the playoffs. My beliefs aside, the Yankees are a dangerous team right now. Led by veteran Mark Teixeira the Yanks are on top of the East and look to stay there, as they have 17 games against teams with losing records before their next divisional series.

Rookie dominance is the story of the week. Pitchers such as Rangers’ Chi Chi Gonzalez, Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, and Astros’ Lance McCullers are among just a few who have left teams baffled recently. Joc Pederson is leading a talented group of rookie hitters that includes Kris Bryant, newcomer Joey Gallo, and Carlos Correa, who was called up just yesterday and hopes to make an immediate impact.

So without further ado,
