According to Matt Eddy of Baseball America, Dayan Viciedo has signed with the Oakland Athletics. He hasn’t played this season after spending parts of five seasons with the White Sox. It is unclear whether he is signing a minor league deal or major league deal.

Viciedo, 26, has career slash line of .254/.298/.424 with a 95 wRC+ and 66 home runs in 1798 plate appearances. He has a combined fWAR of -0.9 due to his horrid defense and base running.

However, Viciedo does have a 124 wRC+ against lefties in his career, so he could see time at DH for the A’s. Mark Canha has struggled against lefties this year (.120 BA), so there is an opportunity for Viciedo in Oakland.

The A’s sit at 25-37, last place in the American League West, but they have been playing much better lately going 6-4 in their last 10 games.
