The Chicago Cubs have called up several young and talented prospects this year. They are calling up yet another key prospect this week to join the team. The Cubs are calling up catching prospect Kyle Schwarber from Double-A to join the team for the week then will be sent back to Triple-A as tweeted by fellow minor league player Dan Vogelbach.
The No. 4 pick of the 2014 draft has been shooting his way up through the system. He has been pummeling Double-A pitching by hitting a sizzling .318/.439/.578 along with 13 homers and 39 RBIs. The Cubs will be playing at Wrigley Field tomorrow against the Cleveland Indians, but will then travel to Cleveland for a two-game series before making their way to Minnesota for a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins. He will be used as a bench bat for the game in Chicago then serve primarily as the designated hitter for their interleague play in the American league. After the week is done he will be sent down to Triple-A Iowa.
He will gain some big league experience during his short stay with the Cubs this week and also hopefully provide some solid offensive production during their play in the American league.
