Source: Mets agree to terms with fourth round pick David Thompson

The New York Mets have agreed to terms with their fourth round pick, third baseman David Thompson, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation

Thompson’s deal is worth $425,000, which is under the $474,800 slot value, the source added.

Jim Callis of MLB.com told Robert Brender of SNY.TV that he “really likes” Thompson and that he believes that he is a “legitimate power hitter.”

Thompson, 21, came into his own this year with the University of Miami this year and he was a big reason why they made it to the College World Series.

In 64 games played this season, Thompson hit .333 with 19 home runs and 87 RBI.

In three seasons at Miami, he hit .306 with 25 home runs and 148 RBI.
