Carlos Gomez, OF Milwaukee Brewers, 29 years old.
2015 stats: .271/.314/.424, 5 HR, 26 RBI.
Despite his offensive struggles and occasional antics, Gomez would be a huge impact player for a contender. The outfielder brings a good blend of speed, power and defense to any team, making him the top position player on the trade market. Gomez is trending upward too, as he slashed .333/.365/.698 in June. If he can sustain his hot streak, the Brewers could get a nice return for Gomez at the deadline.
Potential suitors: Los Angeles Angels, Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets.
The Angels could use Gomez to fill their outfield need, but it would take Mike Trout moving into left, which is possible but who knows how that would go over. The Astros could use some more balance to their power-heavy lineup and with George Springer hitting the DL, Gomez might be the perfect man for the job at the perfect time. Again, the Rays and Mets need that impact bat in the middle of their respective lineups.
