The Milwaukee Brewers are about to make their first move, as they are nearing a deal that will send third baseman Aramis Ramirez to the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Craig Calcaterra of NBCSports.com. It’s unclear who is headed to Milwaukee in the deal.
Ramirez, 37 , has seen his name floated around in trade rumors for the last couple months and is finally on his way out of Milwaukee.
Ramirez started his career in Pittsburgh and will end it where it started, since he will be retiring after the year.
At the plate, Ramirez has had a down year, having hit .247 with 11 home runs and 42 RBI. He is, however, known to be a player who does well in the second half of the season, so we shouldn’t write him off as a player on the decline.
With this trade, it makes a Pedro Alvarez deal even more likely. His day’s in Pittsburgh are likely numbered.
