If this is Chase Utley‘s last season in Philadelphia, it isn’t an ideal way to go out. In 65 games, he has hit .179 with four home runs and 25 RBI. A change of scenery may do him a lot of good and get his career back on track.
On 97.3 ESPN in Philadelphia, ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark reported that Utley’s market is “evolving” and that three teams are interested in trading for him.
Utley, however, is not likely to be dealt in July since he is hurt, but Stark believes that he will be traded in August.
One team that is monitoring Utley’s rehab is the Los Angeles Angels, but they would only consider adding him at a “minimal cost,” MLB.com’s Alden Gonzalez reports. Here is more from Gonzalez:
“Utley is more appealing now that he probably won’t reach 500 plate appearances, the trigger for $15 million vesting options in 2016, 2017 and 2018. But he’s 36 years old with an unseemly.”
