Report: Blue Jays making “major push” to acquire David Price

The Toronto Blue Jays, fresh off of acquiring Troy Tulowitzki from the Colorado Rockies, are making a “major push” and are the “strong favorite” to acquire David Price, one of the top pitchers in all of baseball, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.

In a report earlier this morning, Heyman listed the Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees as the teams currently in on Price.

Price, 29, was made available for trade along with Yoenis Cespedes and other pending free agents by the Detroit Tigers, as I wrote for BaseballEssential.com.

Any deal for Price would likely result in the Blue Jays parting with top prospect Daniel Norris and much more. Adding Price won’t be cheap, but they Blue Jays showed they are all-in on this season by getting Tulowitzki.

This is a move the Blue Jays have to make. Their great hitting can only go so far with bad pitching. Price wouldn’t fix all of their problems, but he would be a significant upgrade.

If you told me 24 hours ago that the Dodgers have a legitimate chance of missing on Price, I would have laughed at you. Now, not so much.
