Report: Carlos Gomez, Mike Fiers to Astros

Brewers announce trade with Astros:

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Astros have acquired Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers from the Brewers. Heyman reports that Gomez has already passed the physical and the deal is complete.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports with the return:

Gomez was originally heading to the Mets in a trade before that fell apart because of injury and financial issues. Now Gomez is reportedly headed to the Astros to fill their center-field void.

The 29-year-old Gomez has about $3 million left on his deal this year along with $9 million for 2016. He is slashing .262/.328/.423 with a 107 wRC+, and 1.7 fWAR in 314 plate appearances.

Fiers, 30, is a fly ball pitcher who has posted a 3.89 ERA, 3.79 FIP this year in 118 innings pitched. He has struck out 121 and walked 43.
