The Toronto Blue Jays are reportedly set to acquire INF Cliff Pennington from the Arizona Diamondbacks, as first reported by our own Robert Murray. As of now, neither team has confirmed the trade.

According to Chris Cotillo of SB Nation’s MLB Daily Dish, players involved are currently being notified of the trade. This being said, it is currently unknown who Arizona will receive from Toronto in return for Pennington.

To help cover the remaining salary on Cliff’s contract, the Diamondbacks are said to be sending cash to Toronto as well. As reported by Shi Davidi of Sportsnet, the Blue Jays will send an unnamed farmhand the other way.

Pennington, 31, is currently represented by Mat Sosnick and Paul Cobbe. Thus far into the 2015 season, Cliff has hit .237/.314/.281 with 1 home run and 10 RBI’s having appeared in a total of 72 games played during regular season ball.

Cliff has previously appeared with the Oakland Athletics before being traded to Arizona during the 2012 offseason.
