The Arizona Diamondbacks are closing in on a deal that would send infield depth to the Toronto Blue Jays, according to a source.
It’s unclear who is involved in the deal, but a player that would make sense for the Blue Jays is Cliff Pennington.
Pennington, 31, was drafted by the Oakland Athletics with the 21st pick in the first round of the 2005 amateur draft.
This season, Pennington has struggled, hitting only .237 with one home run and 10 RBI. He has, however, hit for a a solid average of .333 in 12 at-bats against left-handed pitching this season.
Again, it’s unclear who is in the deal, but something between the Diamondbacks and Blue Jays is close. Stay tuned.
