The Boston Red Sox designated hitter, David Ortiz, blasted his 499th and 500th home runs against the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday off of Matt Moore. He joins 26 other players in the 500 home run club and is now four from Eddie Murray and nine from Gary Sheffield.

Ortiz now has 34 home runs on the year and 50 career multi-homer games.
The three time World Series winner has a career slash of .284/.378/.546 with a 138 wRC+, and 45.6 fWAR in 9396 plate appearances. In the postseason, he has been Mr. Clutch posting a .295/.409/.553 in 357 plate appearances with 17 home runs. His postseason dramatics might actually give him a shot at the Hall of Fame, but if Edgar Martinez has trouble getting in, then Big Papi will too.
