American League MVP
Josh Donaldson (85%)
Also Receiving Votes: Mike Trout (15%)
This race, along with the NL Cy Young race, might end up one of the closest votes in recent memory. Despite playing in a lineup full of stars such as Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion, Josh Donaldson has stood out among them. Donaldson has been of the best offensive third basemen since his first full season with Oakland in 2013. Mike Trout, on the other hand, was largely responsible for the Angels staying in contention into the season’s final weekend. While Baseball Essential overwhelmingly voted for Donaldson, expect the final vote to be much closer as Trout goes for his second straight MVP.
