Astros, Royals announce ALDS rosters

With the ALDS starting up Thursday night the Astros and Royals announced their series rosters.

Here’s the 25-man roster for the Royals:

Pitchers: Johnny Cueto, Wade Davis, Kelvin Herrera, Danny Duffy, Ryan Madson, Luke Hochevar, Kris Medlen, Yordano Ventura, Franklin Morales, Edinson Volquez, Chris Young

Outfielders: Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon, Alex Rios, Paulo Orlando, Jarrod Dyson, Terrance Gore

Infielders: Mike Moustakas, Alcides Escobar, Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer, Kendrys Morales, Ben Zobrist, Christian Colon

Catchers: Salvador Perez, Drew Butera

The AL Central champs will be going with 11 pitchers and 14 position players.

Omar Infante is not on the roster after having a brutal season; he slashed of .220/.234/.318 in 455 plate appearances. Jonny Gomes was left off as well even though the Astros will be throwing two lefties in the series.

And now for the Astros’ 25-man roster:

Pitchers: Dallas Keuchel, Collin McHugh, Lance McCullers Jr., Scott Kazmir, Mike Fiers, Josh Fields, Pat Neshek, Tony Sipp, Oliver Perez, Will Harris, Luke Gregerson

Outfielders: Carlos Gomez, Jake Marisnick, George Springer, Colby Rasmus, Preston Tucker, Evan Gattis

Infielders: Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Chris Carter, Marwin Gonzalez, Jed Lowrie, Luis Valbuena

Catchers: Hank Conger, Jason Castro

The Astros will also be going with 11 pitchers and 14 position players. They were allowed to change their roster after the Wild Card game.

Chad Qualls did not make Houston’s roster after posting a 4.38 ERA, 3.52 FIP in 49 1/3 innings pitched during the regular season. He was a rookie for Houston in 2004 when they made it to the NLCS, but came up short against St. Louis.

McHugh and Ventura face off tonight in game one of the series in Kansas City.
