5.) An extension for Manny Machado
Two $100 million-plus contracts in a single offseason? Pinch me, I must be dreaming. Manny Machado blossomed into a true superstar this year. He wants to sign an extension and stay in Baltimore long-term. Machado has proven himself healthy by playing in all 162 games this season. His power numbers finally caught up to his raw potential, and he will be playing shortstop before you know it. Machado is ready to be a perennial All-Star and if he plays his entire career with the Orioles will go down as the greatest offensive player in franchise history. Machado is serious about being an Oriole for the prime years of his career. Seven years, $140 million sounds like a lot, but that’s what Machado is worth. Now, it’s up to the front office to show the same willingness to commit.
