In terms of offseason hype, it is likely that no team had a more disappointing season than the San Diego Padres. Following the acquisition of nearly a whole new team, many, including Padres upper management, expected the Padres to be in contention for a playoff spot. Despite these expectations, the Padres floundered out of the gate and were really out of it by the beginning of June when they fired manager Bud Black. Despite what was truly an abysmal season by anyone’s standards, there were still quite a few bright spots that the team can build on in 2016 and beyond.
