With all the offseason wheeling and dealing that was done by General Manager A.J. Preller, the Padres’ front office hoped for an increased interest in the on-field product, via ticket sales, in order to offset some of the cost of having a larger payroll for 2015. The effects of the renewed interest in baseball in San Diego were felt even before opening day, with a reported 600-percent increase in ticket sales prior to the start of the season. Even before fans got to see the new team on the field, the interest in the team was seemingly at an all time high.
