The World Series starts in Kansas City tonight, when the New York Mets square off against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium. It’ll be Daniel Murphy and the Mets pitching staff against Alcides Escobar and the Royals bullpen.
Game 1 will feature New York’s Dark Knight, Matt Harvey (13-8, 2.71 ERA), against Kansas City’s Edinson Volquez (13-9 3.55 ERA) at 8 PM ET tonight. A series that figures to be heavy on pitching, it’ll be a close series that hopefully will go the distance like last year.
The Royals come into the World Series fresh off their ALCS victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, a series that saw shortstop Alcides Escobar named series MVP, going 11-23 and joining Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox as the only hitters to have at least 10 hits and five RBIs from the leadoff spot in LCS history.
That was last series, what will it take for the Royals to avoid back-to-back World Series losses and get their second franchise ring?
