2.) Center Field
Center field is a tricky position for the Marlins. They have Marcell Ozuna, but it doesn’t seem like he’s in Jeffrey Loria’s favor.
Marcell Ozuna is talented, but had a lot of struggles last season and it doesn’t seem like he will be returning. As a result, the Marlins will likely need a new centerfielder. They could go in-house with Cole Gillespie or Ichiro Suzuki, but neither is really a viable option for a team looking to contend. The Marlins most likely will try and swap Marcell Ozuna for another centerfielder, or pursue a free agent like an Austin Jackson who won’t be terribly expensive, but is also a terrific defensive player who hits at a solid .260-.270 range.
Ozuna should be the 2016 Marlins CF!
Even if Loria and Boras don’t mix well together, the Marlins should see what Ozuna can deliver with his 5 tools before trading him. Only if Céspedes is signed to replace him, should the Marlins consider trading Ozuna for a #2 SP.
If Capps remains healthy, he is a closer candidate. It is precisely the 6th and 7th inning RP options the Marlins need to establish.
Who is Juan Nicolino?
