Miami Marlins
Committed payroll for 2016: $31.5 MM
Incumbent outfielders: Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, Giancarlo Stanton
Jeffrey Loria is not the biggest Ozuna fan in the world. Former manager Dan Jennings‘ decision to play and defend Ozuna is reportedly one of the reasons he no longer works for the Marlins. It would stand to reason, then, that the Marlins will make every effort to trade Ozuna this winter. Not saying that is the right decision, but hey, it’s the Marlins.
You can’t predict ball, and you can’t predict Jeffrey Loria.
Cespedes to the Marlins is perfect for many reasons. The team needs a Cuban superstar to boost flagging attendance. Cespedes is the perfect personality for the city of Miami. Don Mattingly needs another superstar. Mattingly says he sees himself managing the Marlins for 10 years, but who really thinks that is a reality?
Crazier things have happened in baseball history than the Marlins potentially signing Yoenis Cespedes. On a scale of 1-to-Loria, a deal between the Marlins and Cespedes would rank about a five.
