Toronto Blue Jays
2016 committed salary: $85.7 MM
Price was traded to the Blue Jays at the July 31 deadline and proceeded to be one of the catalysts that led to the Blue Jays winning the AL East. Price went 9-1 with a 2.30 ERA in The Six, and although he faltered in the postseason, he was a big reason the Blue Jays were there at all as he solidified a hold on his second Cy Young award. Given his success and the ensuing playoff berth, new Blue Jays general manager Tony LaCava and team president Mark Shapiro are preparing an offer to keep the ace in Toronto.
Price has said he likes Toronto, as well that he is “absolutely” open to re-signing with the Blue Jays, but Jon Heyman reported that “there is no expectation” that Price will indeed re-sign. Even if the Blue Jays do consider themselves in the sweepstakes for the 30-year-old lefty there will be stiff competition for his services from other teams.
