Evaluating the most likely possible landing spots for Ben Zobrist

Baltimore Orioles

2016 committed salary: $41.8 million

The Baltimore Orioles are not known for making big free-agent acquisitions, but Zobrist could be a fit in the outfield for the O’s. With Steve Pearce and Gerardo Parra potentially heading for free agency, Zobrist could fit in the outfield and see plenty of playing time in Buck Showalter’s lineup. Showalter has seen a lot of Zobrist from his time in Tampa Bay, and he could potentially look to bring him over.

Zobrist could back up Jonathan Schoop at second base and could provide a strong leadership role in the Oriole clubhouse. Zobrist’s career .355 on-base percentage could also work for the Orioles, who ranked 24th in the majors in that department at .307.

It will be interesting to see how far the Orioles will go in pursuing him.

What about the Nationals or Giants? No Desmond for Washington, no Aoki for SF, both would be logical.
