The Royals, with Rios heading for free agency, will need some outfield help in 2016. One name that has been tossed around is David DeJesus. He played his first eight seasons in KC, and has bounced around the league ever since. He would be a a decent fit in the outfield at a much cheaper price than Rios. DeJesus was also a fan favorite in KC when he was there.
If Zobrist and Gordon don’t re-sign, the Royals will have Jarred Dyson and Paulo Orlando. Dyson is a speed threat that played in 90 games in 2015 hitting .250/.311/.380. On the other hand, Orlando could also be a fill-in. The 30-year-old slashed .294/.269/.444 in 86 games in 2015.
The Royals could go after a big name outfielder, but it is unlikely. If Gordon comes back, the Royals will be in good shape. If not, the responsibility will fall heavily on Dyson and Orlando, with one more addition likely to help provide depth.
