Daniel Murphy Potential Destinations

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

*2016 Committed  Salary: $150,933,083

*2016 Expected  Positions to Fill: Pitching, left-handed bat, left field, second base.

The Angels have not been shy on spending money lately. The big contracts given to Pujols, Wilson, and Hamilton have burned them a bit and this may be a reason the Angels save some money in the hitting department and look for bargain deals. If the team is willing to spend money, it will most likely be towards improving their pitching staff.

Adding Murphy to this team as a 2B would be a huge upgrade. The time he would fill in at third base for the oft-injured David Freese would be invaluable. The fact that Murphy would now be able to DH could limit any defensive lapses throughout the year. When Pujols DH’s, Murphy could slide right into first base and provide solid production.
