Report: Dodgers have “significant interest” in Darren O’Day

The Los Angeles Dodgers are expressing “significant interest” in signing free agent reliever Darren O’Day, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com.

O’Day, 33, has been brilliant ever since joining the Baltimore Orioles, having never had an ERA above 2.30 in his four years with the team.

The market for O’Day has been very active, as expected. Buster Olney of ESPN.com reported Tuesday that O’Day already has multiple offers in hand and is expected to meet with managers of the teams interested in his services in the coming weeks.

It is unclear who has submitted offers to O’Day, but Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and Washington Nationals are among the other teams interested in the veteran reliever.

According to Crasnick, some league executives believe O’Day’s contract will be worth “well north” of the three-year, $18.5 million deal Luke Gregerson signed with the Houston Astros last season.
