Sign Alex Anthopoulos

Too soon? Many wanted the former general manager back as he forcefully thrust Canada’s team into the postseason. After acquiring Cy Young finalist David Price, along with Troy Tulowitzki, Ben Revere, Mark Lowe, and LaTroy Hawkins, it was safe to say that his job would be available to him for multiple seasons. Not so fast.

While negotiations with new President Mark Shapiro were ongoing, Alex Anthopoulos weighed his options, and finally tipped the scales away from the Jays, stating that the team was no longer the “right fit” for the now ex-GM. There has been much speculation as to why the outcome arrived at this juncture. Was Shapiro not giving Anthopoulos the master key to the franchise? Or was it just time to move on for the 38-year-old GM out of Montreal? Tony LaCava has now been named interim general manager for the time being as the club looks for their new face of the franchise. Do not forget that Anthopoulos is still on the market.
