Steve Pearce, INF/OF
Perhaps the most underrated player on the 2014 ALCS qualifier, Pearce is a free agent this winter. The Orioles should work hard to re-sign him. Pearce had to deal with injuries for most of the season, and struggled to find any consistency. In 92 games, Pearce still managed 15 home runs, proving the 21 he hit in 102 games in 2014 were no fluke.
Given a full, healthy season, Pearce can be an asset again for the Orioles, especially if Davis walks. There may not be a replacement first baseman on the market who can replicate the 45-50 homer potential of Davis. The best option for the Orioles is to re-sign Pearce, and give him regular at-bats in the outfield. Pearce also, somewhat shockingly, showed he can competently play second base. The 32-year-old is a fan favorite, a clubhouse favorite, and the type of scrappy player that Buck Showalter loves. It makes a lot of sense for the Orioles to bring Steve Pearce back for a few more years.
