Jason Heyward

In today’s game it is not often that a player reaches free agency while in the prime of his career, but at 26 years old, outfielder Heyward is one of the most desirable free agents in the class, and with Carlos Beltran in the final year of his contract and Brett Gardner a trade target, the Yankees could turn to Heyward.

With a keen batting eye and an excellent approach at the plate, Heyward provides everything a team can ask for except power. In six major league seasons, Heyward has hit at least 20 home runs in a season just once, for the 2012 Atlanta Braves.

Though his power numbers are modest as a left-handed hitter, a future address at Yankee Stadium could bolster those figures and coupled with Gold Glove defense, Heyward could realize the potential that scouts envisioned when Atlanta drafted him out of high school.
