Nolan Arenado

The Colorado Rockies third baseman has taken his game to a whole new level and he is still only 24 years old. Arenado exploded in 2015, hitting .287 with 42 homers and 130 RBIs. He also won his third consecutive Gold Glove in three years in the league. Arenado is a stud at third base and consistently saves his team runs at the hot corner.

In Arenado’s three-year career he has a .281 batting average with 70 home runs and 243 RBIs. The three-time All-Star is not due for free agency until the 2020 season. He is first-year arbitration-eligible this season and will be due for a huge raise from the $512,000 he made this past season. It would be a nice investment for the Rockies to lock him up for a long time.

The fact that Arenado is 24 and plays well on defense while hitting like a Silver Slugger recipient, means that a six-year deal would be no problem. You can be assured that Arenado will be productive well into his early 30’s. The Rockies home-field advantage doesn’t really rule here as Arenado has shown the ability to hit at any ballpark. He is an easy candidate for a $120-million contract when it is all said and done. The Rockies are starting to tear down some of their roster, but Arenado is a player the team should be planning on building around.
