Miami Marlins Trade Jose Fernandez
Finally the possible trade that everyone is buzzing about this week — the possibility of the Marlins shopping Jose Fernandez. If Fernandez was actually made openly available there would be no shortage of teams lining up to try to get a deal done. Despite concerns with his health and worries about his attitude, Fernandez still has elite pitcher potential and is only 23 years old.
Beyond that, Fernandez still has three years of arbitration eligibility and will not be a free agent until 2019. This fact, accompanied with his strong pitching prowess, drives up his value even higher. A trade of Fernandez may be the biggest blockbuster of all and would require several moving parts to get a deal done. Given the sheer star power of Fernandez and the massive return he would bring back, not to mention the adamant denials that he is even available to be traded, this trade seems like the most unlikeliest of all possible trades this offseason.
