2. Trea Turner, SS, Washington Nationals
It was a little bit of a head scratcher when the San Diego Padres parted with Trea Turner in order to bring Wil Myers to San Diego, but well, you know, AJ Preller is the GM there. About a year later, Wil Myers is still struggling to stay healthy and Trea Turner will likely be the Nationals’ starting shortstop come Opening Day. Like fellow shortstop prospect Orlando Arcia, Trea Turner’s strength doesn’t come in power, but rather in his ability to put the ball in play, his blazing speed, and flashy glove. It’ll be a bit of a change from predecessor Ian Desmond, who has good power, but is below average as a contact hitter and as a defender. After a disappointing season in D.C. it’ll be a bit of change with Trea Turner and the aforementioned Lucas Giolito coming to town.
