When Joe Maddon was hired in November 2014, few anticipated what would happen in 2015. Maddon, who helped turn a moribund Rays franchise around, once again worked his magic, this time on the North Side. Maddon help lead the Cubs to 97 wins in his first season, a 24-win improvement over 2014. Is all this merely because of Maddon? No, but certainly a lion’s share of the success the Cubs had it due to Maddon’s influence.
